Heartbreaking tributes are being paid to a mum and two men who were killed in a horror car crash.
These are the first pictures of victims Mandy McCallum, 30, and Jamie Williamson, 36, who died when a Vauxhall Astra slammed into a wall at about 4.30am on Friday.
A 62-year-old man was also killed, and two other people, including Mr Williamson’s brother, were taken to hospital following the smash in Bothwell in South Lanarkshire, the Daily Record reports.
Ms McCallum, who had a young son, was remembered as the “brightest star in the sky”, while the mum of Mr Williamson and his brother Sam, 31, told how she was “absolutely heartbroken” following the tragedy.
Sam is stable in hospital and expected to recover. The other person who was injured was a 42-year-old manwho was in a critical condition.
One friend wrote: “RIP Mandy McCallum. These were the last pictures we had together granted we were a tad drunk but what a laugh we used to get together.
“Life can be so cruel and I just hope your in a better place now. Thoughts go out to your family especially your mum and little boy.
“If your star is as bright as your character then you will be the brightest star in the sky.”
Mr Williamson’s mum Angela Fleming wrote on Facebook :
She wrote: “It’s with a heavy heart that I have to write this post but this morning I got news that my son Jamie had past away in a car crash and my other son was also involved in the crash but he’s doing well in hospital and will make a recovery.
“Me and my family are absolutely heartbroken with this news. Rest in peace my baby.”
A longtime friend added: “RIP Jamie. Taken far too soon.”
The police investigation into the double fatal crash continues.
Police Scotland Chief Inspector DarrenFaulds, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved in this crash.
“Our officers are liaising with the families and providing support.
“Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash.
“I would ask any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact us.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who was driving on this road around the time of the crash and may have dash-cam footage to come forward.”
